We've been getting a lot of questions about our new album, and rather than answer them all individually, we thought it would be good to collect them here and publish them. If you have a question that isn't on this list, feel free to email us: info@theslackerrepublic.com
Why is the album called "Home - Volume 1"?
Our original idea was to come together and re-record our old album, "It'll Be Alright When It's Washed." We thought we could do a better job than our first effort, as recording techniques, technology and our own abilities have moved on since we first put that together. That album tried to recreate our live sound, so was restricted to the two guitars, bass and drums format that was our stage act. Since we were no longer trying to capture our act, we decided to not be limited by this approach, but to really try and capture the way we wanted the songs to sound in our head. As we did that, we also started to write and record new songs, and completely rearrange old songs, enough that we felt we were creating something new, rather than reproducing something old. Given that we currently live in three different cities, in three different countries, on two different continents, when we thought about what we had in common, we came to the conclusion that we had all been on different journeys through life and were ready to come home. We liked the idea of this, and it stuck!
Yes, but why Volume 1?
We had so many songs that we decided to make a double album, but we were excited to let people listen to the music and decided not to wait until all of the tracks were completed to release the whole thing. Volume 2 is well under way in terms of being written and recorded, and we promise not to make you wait 17 more years for it!
Are all of these songs new?
All of the recordings are new. The track listing as a mixture of old and new songs, and most of the new songs have undergone a fair bit of rearranging.
Can I buy this on Vinyl or CD?
You cannot buy this on vinyl or CD yet. The music is available for lossless download only, CD cover art will be downloaded with the tracks, so you can burn your own CD if you like! In the future (most likely when we release Volume 2), we will gauge interest for CD and Vinyl formats, and if there's enough interest, we will make the music available in multiple formats.
What if I have trouble downloading the music or getting it onto a CD?
We will help. Email us: info@theslackerrepublic.com
Can I get this on iTunes, Apple Music or Spotify?
No. Right now you can only get the album from this website, at this link. The reason we chose to start this way, is because we would like to know and stay in touch with our audience. We can't ask our fans if they want vinyl or CDs or t-shirts if we don't know who is buying our albums. So for now, we want to keep it available here, but we can be convinced otherwise, if there's enough interest.
EDIT: You convinced us, and there was enough interest, so the album is now available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music and many other digital providers! Here are the links:
Apple Music / iTunes: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/slacker/1509819741
iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/bg/artist/slacker/1509819741

How much does it cost?
You choose how much to pay. We'd like you to pay at least £5.00 for the album. If you want the album and really can't afford £5.00, email us and let us know, and we will send you a link for a free download.
Why should I trust a bunch of dodgy scousers with my credit card info?
Good question, even though it hurts our feelings and makes us think you don't trust us. As a matter of fact, you aren't trusting us with your credit card info. All our payments are handled by Stripe, a secure online payment processing provider (similar to Paypal) that allows us to process your payment without your credit card information ever being seen by or stored by us. You can read more about Stripe here.
If I pre-order, when and how do I get the album?
If you buy the album before August 23rd, you will get a download link via email on the release day that allows you to download the files to your computer. Once they are on your computer, you can play them via iTunes or whatever media player you have, or burn your personal copy of the album to a CD. After release day, the link will be emailed to you immediately after you complete your order.
